Having had an interest in skin cancer for over 20 years, I attended the National Skin Cancer Workshop organised by HealthCert in association with the University of QUuensland School of Medicine and held in Auckland in September 2006.

I found the 2 days a valuable learning experience. All the presenters gave informative and well structured presentations and the weekend was well organised. Unlike a number of conferences I have attended, there was no attempt to cram too much into the time available, so the important topics could be covered in greater depth.

In particular, Professor David Wilkinson's sessions on dermoscopy were superbly presented and the principles were taught in a clear, precise and easily understood manner. Having attended his course, and completed the online training and examination, I now feel much more confident in using my dermoscope.

I recommend this course to all GPs who wish to improve their skills in diagnosing and treating skin cancer.
